You are required to report your tips to your employer, and your employer is required to take out taxes on them. How do you figure you are getting taxed twice?

The tips are taxable income, you don't just get to keep the whole amount.

No, you wouldn't pay taxes two times. Unless your employer puts it on your W2 twice. Do you have reason to believe they would do that?

I'm sorry...but I completely agree...tips are and always have been TAXABLE!! And YES...your employer is actually making this process EASIER for you!! Those who do not get their taxes added to their checks and taxed that way have to do it on their own...unless they want the IRS knocking on their door!!

We are ALL working people!! We get taxed no matter what you're job is!!

Tips are taxable income. If they didn't put it on your check you would have to file forms with the IRS to report your tips each month (or quarter - I can't remember). Your employer is making this process easier for you. (Trust me, they don't want to, because they have to pay taxes on it too).

Sorry - but tips are taxable.

Tips are taxed as wages. It makes no difference if you get it in a check of green crinkly money.
