The keywords for Scorpio are birth, death and transformation and this triangular task is woven throughout our life's experiences. Every circumstance has a beginning (birth), and a time of concentrated effort that leads to mastery (transformation) or failure and separation (death). All relationships, family, friends, lovers, children, marriage, divorce, all ideas, projects, creations, jobs, professions, all illnesses, accidents, times of hardship, pain, suffering, all situations of treachery, betrayal, rejection, and even fame, wealth, authority, influence and temptation engage us in a relentless struggle for survival. From day one we are forced to "deal with it" or be dealt out of the game. The Scorpio prize is the eventual development of personal power, an intuitive inner guidance system, and a sense of reasonable control over our lives.
We are free to travel on either of the two Scorpion roads. The path of the Serpent is dark and devious, fearful of both love and light, lashing out at unfamiliar movement, allowing our paranoia, anxieties, depressions, envy, jealousies, addictions, resentment and hostilities to lead the way. The path of the Phoenix is the less traveled hard rock climb of self-accountability that struggles again and again to overcome our very human frailties. There is a bridge that crosses the chasm between these two and God and love allows us to change lanes as often as we need. Are you Serpent or Phoenix?
